State of the Nation
Ending Loneliness Together & University of NSW
Wallis Social Research is proud to partner with Ending Loneliness Together (ELT) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) on a three‑wave longitudinal study of Australians aged 12 years and older. Building on the 2023 State of the Nation report, which established a national baseline for social connection and loneliness, this study will track changes over time and identify the drivers of loneliness across the population.
Through this partnership, Wallis, ELT and UNSW will generate evidence that informs national strategies to reduce loneliness, particularly among young people, and supports the development of targeted interventions that strengthen social cohesion across Australia.
When is the survey being conducted?
The first wave of the survey will be conducted in February 2026. Wave 2 will take place in April 2026. Wave 3 will take place in June 2025.
How long will the survey take?
The wave 1 survey should take respondents on average 25 minutes to complete, and approximately 20 minutes in waves 2 and 2.
How do I take part?
The 2026 study will be delivered online, utilising an online panel.
