Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY)

Department of Education

The Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youths (LSAY) is a national program of longitudinal surveys, which follows the lives of a group of young people aged 15 to 25 over a ten-year period. The survey is aimed at collecting information on the transitions of young people between education, training and work.

Each year the participants are interviewed either by telephone or online and answer questions related to their study, work and job search activities, volunteering, living arrangements and attitudes to a range of issues that may affect the lives of young Australians.
