Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships Research

Department of Education

Wallis Social Research has been commissioned by the Department of Education to conduct an evaluation of Commonwealth Teaching Scholarships (CTS) to determine if the program is effectively attracting and retaining teachers as intended.

The evaluation will involve both qualitative and quantitative research with Round 1 CTS applicants, including recipients and those who applied but were not selected, to explore how CTS influenced applicants' decisions to enrol in, and complete ITE degrees.

When is the survey being conducted?

Interviews with applicants and recipients were conducted in July and August 2025.

We are also conducting a survey with Round 1 CTS applicants and recipients from 26 August and will run until 15 September.

Follow-up interviews will be conducted in September 2025.

How long will the survey take?

The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete.

How do I take part?

If you received or applied for the CTS in Round 1 (2024), you should have received an email or SMS from Wallis Social Research inviting you to participate in the survey online via a survey link.

If you would prefer to do the survey over the phone, please contact Wallis on 1800 WALLIS (925 547) and quote the ID number in your email invitation and the Project Reference Number 5165b.

We will also be calling you from 1 September to obtain your responses.

Who can I contact if I have any questions?

If you have any questions about the survey, contact 1800 WALLIS (925 547), quoting the Project Reference Number 5165b or email CTS.survey@wallis.social
