Wallis volunteers at Fitted for Work

Yesterday, our team spent the day in Richmond volunteering with Fitted for Work, a charity and social enterprise that supports women preparing to enter or return to the workforce.

Their work goes well beyond providing clothing. Alongside outfitting clients, they offer job readiness support, career guidance and practical help that builds confidence at a point when it is often most needed. It is a considered, long-term approach. As Donna de Zwart explained during the day, the effects can carry forward across generations, with improved employment outcomes influencing not just individuals but their families as well.

The day itself was practical and flexible in the best sense. We unloaded vans, sorted clothing and shoes, reorganised storage areas and helped get things ready for the people who rely on the service. It was straightforward work, but important to keeping everything running smoothly.

Spending time in that environment gave us a better understanding of what it takes to deliver this kind of support at scale, and of the role businesses can play in contributing to it. It also aligned with our broader commitment to operating as a purpose-driven business and the standards we hold ourselves to as a B Corp.

For Melbourne-based teams considering how to contribute locally, Fitted for Work is well worth getting in touch with. The work is practical, the impact is tangible, and the experience offers a different perspective on how support can be delivered in a meaningful way.
