Supporting Positive Masculinity: Launch of The Adolescent Man Box

The Wallis team would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Jesuit Social Services and Matt Tyler, Executive Director of The Men’s Project, on their successful launch of AMBOX – The Adolescent Man Box at the National Press Club in Canberra.

We’re proud to have partnered with Jesuit Social Services on this landmark study, which explores how boys aged 11–18 across Australia are learning, expressing, and challenging ideas about masculinity. Following the impact of last year’s Man Box report, this new research shines a light on the formative years of adolescence—where social expectations, gender norms, and identity begin to take shape.

The findings reveal both progress and pressures faced by young men, highlighting opportunities to foster healthier, more respectful understandings of what it means to ‘be a man’. As researchers, we’re honoured to contribute to evidence that informs national conversations and supports programs helping boys and men to thrive.

It was a privilege for members of the Wallis team to attend the launch in Canberra—an inspiring morning celebrating collaboration, research, and the power of data to drive cultural change. You can see a few photos from the event at our LinkedIn page here.
