Loneliness Awareness Week: 2025 Report backed by Wallis Qualitative Research

Wallis Social Research is proud to have delivered the qualitative component of A Call for Connection: Understanding and Addressing Youth Loneliness in Australia, led by Ending Loneliness Together.

This national report highlights a quiet crisis: over two in five young Australians experience loneliness, with persistent loneliness linked to poor mental and physical health, financial stress, and social disconnection.

Our role focused on in-depth interviews with young Australians from diverse backgrounds and locations. Through these conversations, we explored their experiences of loneliness, the impact of life transitions, and what helps or hinders connection. These insights added vital context to the National Household Income and Labor Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) data.

Wallis is trusted by government and not-for-profits to deliver rigorous qualitative research that centres lived experience. We're proud to contribute evidence that supports policy, education, and community programs focused on youth wellbeing and belonging.
